THE SMALL COUNTRY CHURCH WITH A BIG HEART

Pastors: Rev. Hector Rivera Worship services on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. On March 13, 1806 the founding fathers of Hauppauge, “Land of Sweet Waters,” fixed their signature to incorporate the “Methodist Society of Hauppauge.” Farmers and their families gathered to hear the word of God and news of the outside world. In 1812 the present building was erected. Women brought little coal foot-stoves for warmth. For fifty years women entered and sat on the East side of the church and the West side was reserved for men. Sixteen years after the building was erected, the walls were plastered and the old wooden slab seats were replaced with pews. In 1895 a steeple with a fine bell and a stained glass memorial window were added. In 1932 the basement was added in order to provide more room for Sunday School Students. The Hauppauge United Methodist Church continues to look to the future through direction of Christian witness, service and fellowship.
